Entrepreneur’s should read this book “The Emyth Revisited by Michael E. Gerber” this is an eye opening book on what actually goes in a small business and why they don’t work and what to do when you own one or willing to own in the future.

After finishing this book. I thought to write something about what I learned and share it with all of you. Small business are started every year by millions of people around the world to find or create place of their own.

These businesses are started with high energy by different kinds of people. some are very creative, some in the chase of freedom, some to solve a problem, some to make an impact, some in frustration of working for somebody else.

There are always many hopes and dreams attached to this entity. when you start a business whatever you do is to add value in People’s life in exchange of Money. the value can be added in the form of providing Products or Services.

Many of the people who have no background in business generally start the venture by providing services as in most cases it does not require huge amount of capital investments. This makes things seem like anyone can start some kind of business who has something to provide in terms of value.

There are in short three types of people required to run the business smoothly and grow it into something known as brand in the modern world. those three are – The Entrepreneur, The Manager, The Technician.

Let’s look at the different roles each one plays and what difficulties they experience in the process of running a business or simply doing their part of the work to keep that system running smoothly.

The Entrepreneur

Entrepreneur sitting and thinking

The most popular buzzword in the modern era. Entreprenuer is the think tank behind the idea, the opportunity, the loop hole, the need, the demand finder whatever you call it. entrepreneur is the visionary person who see the future potential of something that could be economically beneficial if acted upon now.

Entrepreneurs has high amounts of energy and enthusiasm. who is willing to take the risk to pursue the idea and turn it into a reality. he always needs someone to handle and organise in a sensible way whatever his mind produces all the time.

he is a restless individual who is always looking at the future and what he as a person can contribute to make things better for the people around him to drive economic benefits for the entity he is willing to establish.

The Manager

woman placing sticky notes on wall

The Person Manages everything from people, inventory and everything else generally looking at the operational part of the business most of the time. he works in the past. he organises and keep things in order to achieve the goals of the business.

He always gets irritated about entreprenuer who keeps on bringing new problems, ideas and challenges for the manager to handle. which disturbs the already running system and process created by him for smooth functioning.

The Technician

man sitting on chair beside laptop computer and teacup

Technician is the person doing everything on the execution and getting things done. His sole focus is on getting things done. he is always doing some kind work to achieve the goals of the organisation.

He thinks that the manager is the problem. who constantly disturbs him while doing the work. ordering him now and then on what needs to be done next and what is not completed yet. there comes an issue which makes everything difficult for the business to work in a smooth way.

What Next

We all have these three personalities in us. Each one fighting for its presence in our minds. you may have noticed yourself. sometimes you plan for the future, sometimes you organise things and at other times working to get things done.

Understanding this can help you which role to play at what stage of your business. the start seems quite messy with being working to create new logos, name, product, sales channels, etc. once people join to work for the organisation. you have to switch to a different role.

once you start to hire people for your business operations. you swap between the role of a manager as well as technician. then eventually if the business starts to get traction, you have to play the role of an entrepreneur.

Entreprenuer continuously makes the systems and also breaks them time and again so the organisation does not end up being stagnant and continously grows into a mature company.

The Major Problem

a blue question mark on a pink background

You Start working at a company in a certain job like for example – a graphic designer, after a while you see that your boss does nothing yet makes good money, then you start to believe that you are most important person as you know the craft of graphic design.

One day you get frustrated and then you think to do it own your own, thinking you can also build a business as you love what you did at the firm and you can do it. you start the business, you work round the clock to make it work.

You bring in some people to work for you, as it is getting hectic for you to do it all alone. Then you deligate work to the people you just hired. which also create some problems like delays, quality issues and much more though it has benefits in work load distribution and expert input.

In case you get past this stage well. you face more challenges. this growth needs a mindset shifts. Generally not every person who starts a business is aware of it. which makes it difficult for people to make good business.

The Following skills you should always focus on while building a business.

  1. Resiliance – The ability to bounce back in the face multiple faliures.
  2. Grit – The ability to stand unshaken in your low times.
  3. Learning Attitude – you should always be willing to learn new things.
  4. Persuasion – The ability to influence people and listen to you
  5. Leadership – The ability to guide and direct people in uncertain times.

Book of the week

Read – Copywriting Secrets by Jim Edwards. this book will teach you how to persuade people with words and the right mindset about sales. overall make you a good sales person.

Challenge of the week

There is no challenge this week 😀

Reflection of the week

It’s your responsibility in the end no one is responsible.

Challenges are what makes us better in terms of experience. Overcoming them has not been so easy in anyone’s life ever. They make us feel nervous, fearful, anxious the more we ignore them the worse it gets.

No one is left unknown to the challenges of life, yet some people make opportunities out of challenges and some end up being in big troubles seeing challenges as dead ends.

When big challenges Knock our doors many a times we are not ready to deal with them. Staying calm is one of the best things you can do to be sane. Loosing conscious thinking in those moments can make things worse.

I have been through some decisions in life which I was not ready to accept. Here are 9 ways I used personally to make efficient choices that made things smooth in the journey of life.

9 Practical Ways to Overcome Challenges

1. Look at the Past achievements

We are all aware of the common notion of learning from the past mistakes yet no one reflects on the past victories to gather self belief. Challenges were with us since the day we were born its not alien thing to us.

Its just the degree of those challenges get higher as we get older and faced with making decisions on a daily basis. As we know there was a time when walking was a challenge for us. Yet we overcame that pretty nicely.

Accomplishment

We should always gather courage from our past victories to move ahead in the heaps of unknown treasures. Even if they sometimes make us feel fearful of the consequences.

2. Talk to someone you trust

Our minds are reflective systems. They work best when have we insights about things. We take better decisions when we have multiple perspectives in our minds about a single thing.

To look at things in a fresh perspective. We need conversations which are unbiased & from a different lens. As things are changing and due to past experiences with people we have developed a habit to trust on a few.

Men and women sitting and talking

We call them our whole world. When times are tough we should always reach out to the people we can talk to openly and be vulnerable. These people can give us a new perspective and can show us a totally different view of our situation.

This makes finding solution to any problem easier and accessible. One of the best things you can do is having mentors to look upto. Mentors can ease things out as they have lived the phase of life and have an unbiased take on things.

3. Don’t suppress your feelings

Showing our emotional side is often seen as weak which is the worst conditioning the society has hard wired us with. From early age we learn to hide our feeling which in the elder years of life become a disaster.

Man hiding his feelings

It turns out that these are the sole reasons why mental health issues increase in adulthood and even teenage. We try to ignore the truth which overtime becomes a negative energy within.

The biggest impact is on our intuition which overtime do not help us as we are not keeping up with our promises. lying may help in the short term yet it hampers our self esteem over a period of time.

4. Write it down

fountain pen on spiral book

As there is a common saying which goes like – if you write a problem, you have already solved it 50%. Writing is the most essential practice when it comes to clarity of thoughts and articulation of ideas.

We many a times find ourselves in stressful situations. We also feeling like sharing with others yet it does not help. Writing is a way out to express your true emotions. Unloading your thought bubble which is keeping you trapped.

It is essential to write once, so you can reflect and attain clarity in your perspective. It will help you detach yourself from the situation and look closely of whatever you are facing as a challenge.

5. Think Long term

Think

We often procrastinate on making decisions fearing consequences. Most of the decisions of a person are socially driven which is a factor that makes us anxious when taking risk or facing challenges.

Long term thinking help us get clarity. It provide us a practical view of things. It help us overcome the emotional impulsive behaviour which may times fool us into making bad decisions.

The bigger your plans are, the more comfortable your emotional state will become.

6. Evaluate your self talk

Man talking to himself

We talk most of the time with ourselves. Something become a trap or a Mental disease just because we give that thought more energy. You should always sit with yourself daily to check what are things you were whispering about unconsciously.

It shapes our belief in the long run. We are conditioned to avoid pain and move towards gain. Self talk can make or break a person. So always be skeptical of what you talk to yourself.

Just using self talk and visualisation techniques. You can program you mind for totally new potential and capabilities. One practice you can follow is to visualise and sit for 30 minutes in silence before bed.

7. Believe in yourself

Something worthy is what I have known and followed since last decade is you have to believe yourself more when no one does. Validating things from inside is a super power which very few people posses.

Believe

keeping up with your belief in challenging times can be tiring at the start but if you do it is highly rewarding. You can take a look at the life stories of people you admire & you will find everywhere someone has trusted in his/her vision more than others.

This single trait has made more success in the history than anything else. Challenges are what differentiate extra ordinary from the ordinary. Making things hard before they become easier is the nature of things. Always have faith in yourself because life give us surprises when we expect them the least.

8. Keep Looking for Solutions

Solve a puzzle

The brain has all the power to attract anything we want it to achieve. When we are always in the hunt of solution to the problems we develop neural networks which promotes creativity. I have personally done it & have solved some exciting mysteries of my personality.

It requires grit to make it happen on your own terms. Being patient at times where nothing is in your favour will give you the paths you need to follow for overcoming those challenges. the longer you stay in the process the brighter and prosperous you will be.

9. Always challenge yourself

woman in black shirt and blue denim jeans sitting on black exercise equipment

Small wins everyday can make your self esteem high eventually making your mind to believe in your abilities. The challenge can be as small as completing whatever you decided to in a day or even keeping the promises you make to yourself or anyone else.

You are always more capable than what you think of you are. If you avoid challenges in life, you can end up in a negative and hopeless spiral of thoughts, so keep pushing your limits to make the best out of the one life you have been offered by the divine.

Book of the week

Read – ” The Emyth Revisited by Micheal E. Gerber

This book will change the way you think about small business and your mindset overall when you build a business. The roles you need to play at different stages of your company.

Challenge of the week

You may think one more challenge 😁. This is the ritual we follow here. so to go ahead with a challenge for this week. You have to do something that is entirely out of your interest and do it for at least 30 days straight. Why do this – it will give you a reality check.

It will help you know the impact of new things and learning and will help you explore new world view which was never ever thought by you exists.

Reflection of the week

Discussing and sharing your thoughts can help you drastically on reflecting on things you were missing out. It can give you fresh perspective thus helping solve some of the biggest problems you thought can not be tackled.

Staying true to your promises and continuously heading in a direction of growth is one of the toughest things some can do.We all know what is good for us and what we need to do at a basic level to get what we want. Yet we fail to do that so many a times.

We are prone to the changes in our environment and lack of balance, between effort and rest. We make many promises to ourselves at the start yet overtime repeat the same behaviour again.

Like for example take eating healthy as one of the promise you gave yourself. You promised yourself that you will not eat any kind of junk food for next 3 months. After a month when some one says just eat it once. You justify it that I have been not eating junk for these many occasions so for once it’s fine.

This way you end up at the same point where you started and then you regret why things are not the way they should be or why are you not able to get your goals.

One practice
Whenever you feel like breaking your commitment ask your self why you made it in the first place and what was the last experience you had.

So keep your goals so big that others things feel so little and creepy.that you start to feel shameful, if you ever think of breaking your commitment.

Challenge

Take 2 diary write in one what you have to do and in one what you did. Do it daily and then check it after 15 days.

Movie

Watch – the social dilemma

It will teach you what is the all social addiction and whatever these big companies are doing with these tool they have created.

Reflection

Building yourself and destroying your self is all in your hands.

Bad times are faced by all of us in some or other form in our life at least once. We often see it with a negative lens. We often complain to the divine that why this all happening to me.

While everyone seems to be enjoying life. Comparing our selves to others is highly self centerer view. This creates useless road blocks to our growth.

We anchor our happiness and freedom to external validation many a times, the illusion of chasing what we don’t have is usually the biggest mistake people end up with day in day out.

The story

Teenage years of our life is the phase we are most prone these kind of thoughts. When our imaginary wishes are not entertained by anyone of our well wishers. This may also come to us when we are doing the things to gain something or trying to keep up with the promises we made in exchange of getting something. And when we don’t get the desired outcome and fail at being what we thought we would be like.

Similar kind of an incident came to my life when I was about to cherish the freedom of collage years. Where I didn’t got what I was looking for even after doing what all was required. I was stuck mentally with one thought that why is this happening to me and almost lived my 3 years of journey in a negative approach which was to be utilised as an opportunity.

After the completion of the degree, I realised it was all in my mind nothing else. I learned it the hard way that it’s all about mindset and courage no situation or person is bad that they can stop your growth and success.

Good or Bad

We often classify events and consequences as good or bad and keep on attributing our joy to certain experiences and events while neglecting others all together. One thing is very much of importance that wherever we are in present or will end up in future is just because of two reasons – either we are being tested and prepared by the divine for what we want or we have not done enough yet to deserve what we want.

So we can take it as an opportunity or keep on dwelling on the past decisions and regret forever.

What Next

The journey without a why me lens will be tough no doubt yet it will only last for a short period of time. What we can do to take lead is replace the thought to “what’s in for me ?” This will help you see things with a growth perspective and librate you from the fixed mindset. So the choice is totally on you. To make or break yourself. Keep flourishing.

Challenge

This week do one thing that makes you feel intimidated and experience the power it offer once you do it.

Book

Read – can’t hurt me by David Goggins.

It will teach you what is true human potential and principles for strong mindset.

Reflection

Get out of your mind, life will get much easier than you ever thought of.

Procrastination is a perpetual habit of humans to let go the feeling of discomfort. We fall prey to this behaviour on daily basis in some or other form.

You are waiting for something to happen

The people who are unsatisfied, unhappy, unsuccessful are those who wait for the world to serve everything on a platter and enjoy the fruits without creating any form of value in terms of cash or kind. They often delay things unless something just perfect comes up so they can execute on their thinking. Yet waiting for the miracles they don’t reach anywhere in life and then blame the world for whatever happens to them.

Perfection and the dead ends

The people who chase perfection often end up in distraction and pleasure seeking behaviours. They are highly focused on the outcome. The mindset of being a perfect creator makes them paralysed if a single thing does not work as they have expected. Procrastination is just habit of doing things with the effort to make yourself feel good for a moment or two and avoid the uncertainty of anything that is going on in our life.

The easiest way out

People who are perfectionist can really do some simple things to make their and others life easier. As a perfectionist a person is highly outcome focused. His all energy goes into creating certainty of outcome from whatever he does to achieve anything. People with such habits often fear uncertainty and failure.
They can create step by step approach to let go of this mind set.

The following can be done to attain confidence and action

  1. Do some experience to familiarise yourself with the thing you are trying to accomplish.
  2. Learn the fundamentals of the work to be at ease with yourself.
  3. Create practice assignment to bridge the gap between imagination and reality
  4. Then focus on what works and what does not work.
  5. Create a system around what needs to be done to achieve a certain kind of outcome.

Get rid of the laziness

The only thing you need to lower your expectations and take action regardless of whatever the outcome will be, unless we act on something we wish to do everything seems tough. One way to get yourself going is to give your mind a recap of what all you feared in the past and after taking the action has worked in your favour.

Reflection

Systems can be so effective ways to reduce your stress and increase your performance and output.

Question of the week

Why great people are different from the ordinary ?

Book of the week

Read the book principles by ray Dalio it is an amazing book life and business.

What is over conscious behaviour ?

The state of self consciousness is when you are so much concerned about the outcome of the event. You often fear negative consequences. These thoughts come to you cause of your past experiences. Consciousness is a flow state. On the other hand, self consciousness is a stressful state, which in turn hampers your focus, productivity and performance in general.

Signs you are over conscious

When you are self conscious. You sweat often when doing a task. You feel anxious, you get frustrated easily, you seek validation from outside world, you avoid situations and things which are not familiar to you.

How to build confidence ?

The question comes to our mind when someone says build your confidence. Yet how should you do that, no one tells you anything specific to act on. The simplest way to build your confidence is to your promises. Match your words and action. No other thing will be required to gain confidence in your life.

What causes over consciousness ?

As a child we seek validation of what is right and wrong from our environment. We do exactly whatever our closed once’s do. If we do something and we are appreciated then we start believing in our thoughts, which then builds up confidence. Yet if we are punished for something and abounded then we lose confidence in our self and start pleasing people to be accepted. Any of the two experiences can highly impact our self esteem. This all can be changed no matter what was our past.

What to do now ?

  • Practice positive self talk
  • Do whatever makes you feel good about yourself
  • Harness your interests
  • Educate yourself to know yourself
  • Keep your promises no matter whatever happens.

Challenge of the week

Do exercise 5 times a week and notice how your confidence and energy changes.

Book of the week

Read – ego is the enemy by Ryan Holiday

It will educate on the forms of ego and how it disconnects you from the reality.

Reflection of the week

When you feel lost then create systems of what you know to bounce back.

Everyday is a new chance to change the destiny.

I have seen myself saying that I am not interested in things which don’t see valuable enough to deploy my time. I also chose to leave the things which are out of my comfort zone.

Let me share a recent story. We all have some kind of lifestyle. Some people wake up early where others wake up late, some choose to prioritise social life over Personal Life. Many people value productivity more than fun. So there are different beliefs for different people.

I used to one of the person till my collage days. Who used to value personal growth and not usually socialise around with people. Whenever someone asked that let’s go out have fun. My obvious statement was – I am not interested, you go enjoy, I have some work to do for now. I will join you next time.

Then as they left for such parties, occasion or any kind of the event. I was the only left with nothing to do and then eventually waited for my friend’s to return. So we can talk and I also would dig into how was the event. Who all were there for the event.

This was a common thing for me to avoid social occasions. Which on a longer time frame was a good and a bad decision. In a good way, it helped me know myself better, I got more time to understand my weakness, strengths and who I was as a person.

I stretched the idea of personal life so far that it started hurting me. I had no such connections, I was a lone wolf who just did everything by himself. No that much of a big and charming social life. So then I decided to start connecting to people and stop being always focused on the personal space and everything around it.

The day I started reaching out to people with whatever that was on my mind and listening to their stories. It was a life changing experience for me. It gave me many new people to hang around who believed in my ideas, had same aspirations and dreams just like me. I started enjoying this thing even more than my personal endeavours.

I realised that it was not that I was not interested in hanging out and connecting with people yet I was fearing social rejection. I was not so confident. I was always looking that why should I reach out others they should come to me. This was a bad idea I had for a long time. The day I decided to change my mindset. Everything changed for ever.

Now I am more confident, connected, happy, positive and productive.
So a few lessons I learned from these incidences.

  1. Never let your fears over power your choices of what’s interesting and what’s not interesting for you.
  2. Things will change the day you decided to take the step in the direction.
  3. Don’t fall into the trap of commitment and consistency. Just go for the things you want to. Never allow yourself into thinking that what others will react when I choose opposite what I used to say them.
  4. There is no static or one personality type for a person, you can live whichever way you want to and whenever you want. So change it now. If you don’t love the way you live now.
  5. When fears trap your mindset, use the no regret framework – always do it, try it, cause regret way much worse then anything else.

Questions of the week

  1. What makes a thing interesting according to you ?
  2. What is hard – to chase your dreams or to Seattle for your insecurities ?

Challenges of the week

  1. Reach out to one new person every day for the next 15 days.
  2. Commit to any one thing for at least 21days . which you were about to do yet not started cause of any reason.

Book I am reading this week

The sketchbook of wisdom by vishal Khandelwal – it offers timeless principles on wealth, relationships, happiness, health, investing and personal Development in the form of short stories.

Just to be a state where we life the perfect, peaceful, entertaining life. We choose our phones over anything cause it is the thing we can control the most. There is no commitment, no failures, no rejection, no loyalty, no accountability, no responsibility to be served.

A habit in the 21st century is to choose what to do and what not to do. Which becomes a very tough choice for specially people who are about to get started with their careers or relationships.

The two major aspects which plays very important role of how we end up in life and how much fulfilled are we gone be at the death bed.

The common thing is consuming a lot of content. The habit of being in Aspirational, dreamy and virtual world does more harm than good.

The youngsters specially in the hope of getting clarity. Start to consume knowledge given by their ideals, which gives them big possibilities and things to look up to in their life to achieve.

This all happens due to the dopamine shoot which occurs in the brain while we watch or listen to the content by some or the other authorities we follow in any way.

The reel culture is a another level of addiction which develops ADHD & OCD among youngsters. The attention span shortens. The distraction levels increase cause as the brain is exposed to such things, craves for more which is vicious cycle in itself.

It worst then drugs, this eat ups your time and energy. Like never before. The creativity of an individual decreases, motivation gets affected etc.

If you can relate to the above things. There is high probability that you are training your brain to wait for perfect moments. The brain is in most of the aspects addicted to chase perfection and delay commitment. Due to the social media exposure.

If you are suffering from such a trap then do a life audit if all areas of life. Create a possible choice chart. Go choose the thing which has the highest probability of getting your goals achieved.

Never look back until you make a project around it. Then you have to work for everything possibly you can., until you figure out what works. Taking action and going all in on one thing will make you more happy then anything else.

Your biggest asset is time. So stop waiting, blaming, hating, searching and start acting on your interest.

Excuses are a common thing most of us do. When we are not looking to do anything that is important for us.

The lazy behaviour only washes away the moment our needs are not met. Why we start focusing when we are problem. It’s because our brain is weird to choose survival.

We all fall prey to this behaviour as humans. The things we often avoid most of the time, a little by little builds up into bigger problem than we had ever thought.

The Reasons for excuses

There are a few reasons we make excuses. This can be a lack of interest, the lack of urgency. It does not affect our daily life directly. There is no commitment to be served. It has instant gains. It is forced on us.

We do not understand the task at hand. The work needs assistance. We fear the consequences. We maybe a perfectionist. It needs long term commitment. There is reward on completing the task. No one to appreciate and many more.

How to get it done and Beat Excuses down

  1. Get it done instantly
  2. Reward yourself on completion.
  3. Make a list
  4. Tell somebody.
  5. Create a deadline.
  6. Make it Personal.
  7. Understand the task.
  8. Break it down into small steps.
  9. Visualise the peace after the completion.
  10. Make it a habit.

Reflect on this simple things and start taking action towards your happiness, peace and fulfilment.

  1. Does hard work get you what you want or connections in today’s world ?
Rate the two on a scale of 10.
